LVS Hassocks, an award winning, autism specific school, has been announced as winner of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) School of the Year Award for 2023.
The ISA Awards is an annual event that celebrates success in its members’ schools, and recognises the breadth of quality and provision in independent education across the UK. The ISA values innovation and inspiration, building on the best traditions to promote integrity, high standards, industry and responsibility. It values the diversity of its members’ schools which cover the complete age range and vary in size and nature.
At LVS Hassocks, the specialist curriculum recognises every child as an individual and enables each child to realise their full potential. Through research with health and educational specialists, employers and parents, LVS Hassocks has developed teaching and learning methods to help young people with an autism diagnosis. These strategies for life and learning give them opportunities and skills for successful employment.
Rachel Borland, Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead, said: “We are utterly delighted to have been acknowledged in this way, as being an outstanding provision for our SEND students. As an inaugural award, we are truly honoured to have been recognised. Our whole school community joins me in thanking ISA for supporting us onto new height of excellence.”
